Tex-Czech influences
Much like many other communities, when Czech immigrants came to Texas, their food reflected their loves from the homeland while mixed with the melting pot of America. In honor of that heritage, Czechfest proudly features:
A proper Czech-Tex lunch featuring kuřecí řízek and kysané zelí (think of it like chicken schnitzel and sauerkraut but better), gravy, buttered potatoes, and green beans from the Lodge 88 Kitchen Committee.
Kolaches and klobasniky (that’s what you are supposed to call the ones with meat) from The Kolache Shoppe and Hruska’s in Ellinger, Texas. FOR SALE INSIDE THE BALLROOM (This gets asked a lot).
Smoked goodness from the Lodge 88 BBQ Committee including Czech sausages, pulled pork, and various items on a stick.
